The Green, Pavilion and
Terrace.
And happy members at the Opening Drive on the 22nd April.
+ Bert, RIP.
Our
Club was founded in 1981. Our present
participating outdoor membership is growing.
We would like it to be more than
100.
If you ever felt the
desire to bowl
or just enjoy pleasant
company
in a friendly
and welcoming environment please come and join us. We need you.
Contrary to common
misconception it is not expensive.
See Club
Facilities for
prices.
We
are
affiliated to Sussex
County Bowls and
through them
to Bowls
England,
the national governing
body for our
sport.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
terrace outside our extended
pavilion is our Garden
Lounge. We hope our
members
and all our visitors will find it
attractive, accommodating,
and
hospitable.
This will always be
our aim here at
Peacehaven and Telscombe B C
The
pavilion was erected in 1986 and provides excellent facilities
including
a bar,
fitted kitchen
meeting the latest hygiene standards,
and comfortable
changing rooms. If you're not a
Club
member why not come and see what we have
to offer? The club is
open for all our
Home fixtures and you will be made most
welcome.
Take a look at our Fixture
List.
You might enjoy just sitting and
watching one of our home games. If the sun is hot
enjoy a cold lager or
glass of wine with the bowling on the terrace.
If its not-so-hot
perhaps a cup of tea
or coffee in our spacious pavilion would be more comfortable.
We
are urgently
seeking new members, from all
sections
of the community.
All
ages and all ability
levels will be made most welcome. So there can be no reason for
you
NOT to enjoy bowls on what is
one of the
best
greens in the County.
You
might be a
Champion
just waiting to be
discovered.
In
the Summer months, late April thru September,
we have an excellent
development program
run by Margaret
Armstrong and Audrey
Kirby on
Monday afternoons
on the green.
In Winter (now!), from October thru
April, several members are
on
hand on
most Mondays,
Thursdays and Saturdays, waiting to introduce you
to the increasingly
popular
indoor version,
Short
Mat bowls.
Why
not come and try your hand? You
might enjoy it and you
might be good.
To guarantee someone will be there drop
a
quick email to Peter Herman listed
above.
Our
club coaches will be happy to instruct you in the basics of the sport
or advise on
how to improve your game.
Just come in and say Hello!
If you don't try
you will never know.
Bowling
is as much a
social
activity as a sporting one and to enforce this aspect there are
several
social functions from bingo to fish
and chip suppers,
coffee mornings to
quiz’s,
barbecues to candlelit bowling.
Our Social Team
organize various events including
Club
social evenings in the winter months on Wednesdays, 7.00
pm,
which prove quite
popular and help to raise revenue for the Club.
The more
who attend the more successful
the
venture. Cards, darts, dominoes, etc.,
you name it. And all with your
favourite tipple. Tea, beer, wine, coffee, whatever.
All at very
competitive prices. If
you are
at all interested in taking
part in the sport of bowls
please contact any member of the club
whose names and numbers appear
above.
TOURING TEAMS from
all over the
country visit us during the summer. We welcome
them
most warmly and can help arrange accommodation in Brighton, just 8
miles
west
or Eastbourne,
just 14 miles east, where several hotels
offer bowlers
unrivaled service
and excellent cuisine. It’s a great day
out on the Sunny
South Coast.
PEACEHAVEN is exactly where
the Greenwich Meridian
intersects the coastline so
it's not hard to find us. If you’re in the
western hemisphere and on the UK
mainland,
drive south to the sea and turn left. If in the eastern
hemisphere do the same but turn
right.
And make sure you're on the A259.
Our Club Secretary will
be very pleased to hear
from anyone thinking of touring beautiful
East Sussex
in
2023 and later. We have excellent parking facilities for cars and
coaches.
East
Sussex is
home to many world famous sites such as:- the Seven
Sisters
white cliffs;
Cuckmere
Haven
and the Fishermens' Cottages of Atonement
fame and featured
on almost every calendar with photos of Beautiful
Britain; the fantastic Brighton
Pavilion;
lovely old villages such as Alfriston
where
King Alfred reputedly burned the cakes,
Rottingdean, home
for
years to Rudyard
Kipling, and Batemans,
nestling in the South
Downs
at Burwash
Common where he lived out the rest of
his
days. The County remains one of the
few areas where you can find old
country
pubs which welcome you with a bygone warmth
and hospitality. Most
sell Harveys
Sussex Bitter, a brew of International fame and
alone worth
traveling many miles for. Sounds like
Heaven? Try it. You'll think you are in Paradise.
(Which can be
found just down the road at Newhaven, our local Garden Centre, coaches
and children welcome, and worth a visit on its own).
If you prefer to
walk when your partner is bowling on our green just walk out of the
green
and turn north. In two minutes you will be in the South
Downs
National
Park,
an area of outstanding natural beauty.
What more could
you ask
for
on a warm, sunny South Coast day in East
Sussex?
Let us
help you to
enjoy a memorable tour.
If you are organizing a
tour
and
can
think of a good reason for not visiting Peacehaven
I would like to know what it is. You know you will be welcomed.
On the
bowling side we have a team in the Brighton
and Hove District
League, (men
only),
in Division 3 so there is plenty of
opportunity for
competitive bowling. In June we
commence the very
popular Club Monday Evening League. For
up-to-date
information
on these
leagues please see our Competitions
page. For
winter bowling we are fortunate
to be within a couple of miles of
Denton
Island Indoor
Bowling Club
where the facilities
are unrivaled. For links to many other local Clubs
go to our Meet
the Neighbours page.
For those who enjoy Short Mat bowling we
have
our own fully operational facility
which is rapidly gaining in popularity to the extent we have had to
double the number
of weekly sessions. We would be happy to double them
again if the interest level continues
to increase. It's
a warm
and friendly environment in our central heated pavilion and provides entertainment
and relaxed
exercise throughout the winter months.
Why not join in?
You will be
made very welcome.
